 Rawson Duo

to give

benefit concert

for the

Olympic Youth Strings (OYStrs)

Friday, April 21, 6 pm

Join violinist Alan Rawson and pianist Sandy Rawson of the Rawson Violin and Piano Duo for an early evening concert starting at 6 pm on Friday, April 21 at the beautiful and elegant home of Ken and Karen Long, 100 Lands End Lane, Port Townsend, atop the bluffs with a fabulous view overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This is a repeat performance of the earlier, sold out performance on April 2.

They will present the complete (21) Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms, arranged by his close friend and associate, violinist Joseph Joachim. While originally published for piano, four hands, their inspiration was from pure folk and popular gypsy fiddle playing, captured in its essence in this version by the great Hungarian virtuoso. The Dances fully embrace 19th century Romantic spirit.

Alan will be performing on his exquisite Italian violin (ca. 1750) and Sandy will play the Long's 1919 Steinway grand piano.  This unusual piano also features a built-in Pianola DUO-ART Reproducing Piano system which will be demonstrated in the course of the program.

Proceeds of the concert will help support the Rawsons’ effort to bring high level chamber orchestra experience to string students in the Port Townsend area through their Olympic Youth Strings (OYStrs) program.

Admission is by advanced paid donation, $15 per seat. Seating is limited. Please RSVP no later than Wednesday, April 19 by contacting Alan Rawson, email or phone 379-3449. Checks should made payable to Alan Rawson, 10318 Rhody Drive, Chimacum WA 98325.

The program will begin at 6 pm and light refreshments will be served afterwards. More information about the Rawson Duo and OYStrs is available on their web site,
